Default Got ripped off, need some advise. Please HELP!

About a month ago I purchased a set of taillights through an ad that this guy had on his eBay auction. I contacted the user and asked if he can sell me his extra set. I then paid him $180.00 via paypal. After 30 days, I have not received my taillights and the seller claims that he shipped it out. He gave me a tracking number (canada post) that was untrackable. I filed a complaint against him via paypal to get me my money back, paypal determined that he was at fault but was not able to recover any funds from his account.

My question is, are there any other ways to recover my money? Can I take any legal action against this individual? I have all of his information. Please help me.

Thanks in advance.

It's only been 4 weeks. If it's comming internationally, it'll take a little longer...

I've sent sh1t via Canada Post. It doesn't take 4 weeks. Hell, I've sent items to Japan that have arrived within a week.

Most times, yes. However, customs can sometimes be a real PITA...

He gave me a canada post tracking number. I tried tracking it via their website and called customer service. No one has any information about that tracking number. I even called the post office where he claims he shipped it out from, and they do not have any records of the tracking number.

Yes, he also mentioned that cusotms can really delay shipping. Is it normal for shipping to take this long? He insists that he shipped it and its on its way, but I don not have any solid proof that he actually did.

That's definately a tough situation.

FWIW, I've been waiting over 6 weeks to get something shipped from the States

Could the guy provide you with a copy of the shipping receipt?
I know if it were me sending something, I would hang onto that untill I knew the transaction was complete.

I did ask for a scan or picture of the actual receipt but he was unable to give it to me. That's why I was sceptical that he never shipped it out.

That really sucks.... I hope it's just as he says and not a scam...
I have purchased a set of tail lights (MY 2004) through ebay and should be getting them in a while... I live in Italy so it will take longer.. but to be honest with you, I understand how you feel.. after you make the payment you have no control on what can happen and hope that you are dealing with an honest person on the other side... I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Good luck!

ciao
