FS: Spoon clutch disk, new
Hello all,
First, I'm offering this for pick-up only. I'm in the L.A. area.
I'm selling a new Spoon clutch disk, in perfect condition, in original unopened packaging, as shown below. Note: it's the disk only, no pressure plate or TO bearing.
Price: $55.
General info on the Spoon clutch disk:
Deceleration Buzz
The Spoon disk is a reworked OEM disk from the 2000/early '01 models, which had the deceleration buzz. The Spoon disks also have this buzz. As is well-documented on this board, the buzzing is not harmful to the car in any way. It grows gradually worse over life, from being nearly inaudible when new to quite noticeable (in an otherwise stock car) when well worn. NOTE, however: If you have an aftermarket exhaust, particularly a single-exit type, you will probably never hear the buzz at all. I base this on my experience with a Spoon disk in my car, both when I had a stock exhaust (it was fairly annoying then) to having a Mugen exhaust (can still hear it, but it's not nearly as noticeable).
Performance
I'm not sure exactly what modifications Spoon made to the stock design, but since the disk is designed for use with the Spoon pressure plate (~35% gripper), it is surely a bit "beefier". The Spoon disk & PP on my car is just now starting to feel a bit worn after ~3K track (road course) miles and 12K hard street miles (mostly stop and go). Otherwise, as you can see in the pics, it's very much a street-oriented design and is very friendly in everyday driving.
Bottom line
So, I think someone with a loudish exhaust who's looking for a somewhat tougher-than-stock but still streetable clutch would be very happy with this disk.
Cheers and thanks for looking...
