Are these direct drop-ins for the current door speakers (except for the tweeters) or do they require speaker adapters such as the ones sold by Lucid?

Rob, maybe you could help out on this question. I never even got a chance to look at installing them and not sure about speaker adapters. I did some research on the speaker depth and know they will fit, but thats it. Sorry but thanks.

you're right, the speaker depth is fine and they fit great. what I did was just remove the stock plastic cups entirely, and I also used Lucid's 6.5" adapters. the adapters are not necessary but they make the swap neater and easier. you could easily fabricate your own adapter, but for the price Lucid charges for the rings, I didn't opt to. the tweeters are a simple swap of course, and I mounted the crossovers behind the footwell covers using double-sided tape.

To anyone interested - these really sound great in the s. I originally planned on adding rear speakers shortly after these went in, but the sound is so full with them, that I was able to hold off on rears and put the $$ to other use.

Thanks again for the help Rob, thats what my intent was, hoping they would be good enough that I wouldn't need a rear speaker install. Obviously they work well, come on people $150 shipped.....brand new!!
