Default over rev question

Hi guys,

So i was driving around and i was in 2 gear and i accidently bounced the rev really quick and shifted to third (some bitch wouldnt let me in the lane) i barely bounced off if and shifted and drove around to see if anything went wrong, what should i do to check if i messed up a valve or something? there is no check engine light. ( my car is stock) any suggestions

if your upshifting 1-2-3-4 etc and you hit the rev limeter thats fine, its an electronic rev limter to keep your motor safe, the way you hurt the motor is with a mis shift, ie tryin to go 3-4 and go 3-2 when you miss shift goin down there is no electronic rev limter to save you, the motor will rev untill you let off, and thats how you mess stuff up

watch out for 3-2 when you mean 3-4 i.e. when youre on the highway flying. not many cars can handle that. that's really the killer shift lol

rev limiter will come into play here as well.

yep, no worries there. you didn't over-rev, you hit the limiter. All good, that's what it's for.

In a nutshell, mechanical over-rev can happen when you hit second instead of fourth, from the top of third (for example). The tires force the engine to spin WAY too fast, if even just for a moment. It "overpowers" the limiter, in a sense.

So what happens if your driving from 1-2 then shifting to 3rd but the rmp was pass the 8k mark * so it was like blinking for a sec or 2 * will the rev-limiter kick in? or did i kill the motor...
