I agree. If its $2k+ we're talking about, go ASM. I think medicalstudent has it on order. I always thought the GruppeM could be obtained for about the cost of the J's. Hmm, guess I was wrong.

I've driven in 2 E46 M3s with the GruppeM. It is quite possibly one the worlds best engineered intake for that car. You don't really feel its performance through the first few gears but when you start to gain speed (50+mph) it just pulls and pulls and pulls. I always thought it would work well with the F20/22C since it is also a very demanding, high revving engine.
whats funny is thats possibly the worst intake made for the E46 M3. in fact so many guys on the M3 boards were loosing power when they dynoed it most of the site spons stopped selling it.

Really? I find that hard to believe. In fact I think on e46fanatics.com it was named the best intake for the car.

Most of the "dyno power" they claim is not reflected when the car attains speed and positive air pressure. This is a ram air charger and does exactly that. It might show losses on a dyno because it was never engineered for a stationey WOT reading

Dude what are you talking about? The GruppeM intake is known as one of the best for the E46 M3.

all you have to do is search on either M3 boards and there are plenty of post about it from many companies talking it down.

of course companies will talk them down...its so they can sell their own stuff.

Dynos are only ONE of the factors I look at when deciding on an intake. The car is moving when its accelerating, which is not what its doing on a dyno.

I'm a member of the m3forum.com and never have read of any companies refusing to sell the GruppeM intake. I have heard of people bitching about GruppeM very optimistic power gains. I have heard of no power gains on the dyno but then again I've heard the opposite, like here - http://www.technikpower.com/news/061405.htm

I don't treat the dyno as the final tell all. I never dyno'ed my M3, but I know the GruppeM intake had a significant difference in mine at least. Above 4000 RPMs, the car pulled harder.

UPDATE: 8/23 - I have a contact at GruppeM Japan that can get this intake shipped EMS to the states for about the price of the Mugen Intake.

I might jump on it...if anyone else is interested please let me know maybe we can get a group buy going

GruppeM USA/RennSport told me yesterday that he can get it for $1700 shipped. I'm planning to get this immediately after my wedding in December.

But if this goes through for the price of the Mugen intake ($1300), I'm definitely interested now.
