best air filter to use with a spoon snorkel
hi guys,
i recently received my spoon snorkel(ebay special) and gutted my airbox, now im looking for a good air filter. which one would be best to use with the snorkel? for sound, power etc... or are they more or less the same?
i would really like a j's or mugen intake but cant justify spending the big bucks they cost on just an intake or are they really worth the money? please help and express opinions as i want a system that will gain most power without a hefty price tag
cheers

Yeah K&N is good for the price, I run the Spoon filter (used to have a K&N) and I like it better b/c after a while the K&N filter's walls will bend a little whereas foam filters like Spoon don't distort over time. It's also easier to clean the Spoon filter, not that it's terribly difficult with a K&N. I would think power would be pretty similar with all of the filters but the only solid thing I've heard is that Comptech claims 3hp with their filter.

so do you think i would just be better getting a cai like a k&n gen 2 kit which claim to give 10bhp?? or comptech icebox? or what other good intake is there that will give good gains but wont break the bank?

unless you have owned a mugen or J's intake (I have Mugen) you will NEVER understand how much they improve the car and how much power they give you. They ARE a very expensive but WELL worth it mod.
You can not dyno a Mugen or J's unless you dyno in a wind tunnel
I do not feel like getting into the logic of said intakes..trust me.. the 150 cold air are a joke.. I dont care they show X on a dyno.. think about physics
the higher it revs the more air it needs.. sucking air vs ramming air is a big difference
b20teg, any filter flows pretty well for the set up you have.. Foam flows better but doesnt filter as well, and Vice versa for K&N, JR, etc.. what is more important to you??
if you already have a snorkle, just get a filter, dont get a uinloigical cold air for a motor that revs to 9k, the snorkle will do a hell of a lot more than a cold air, or comptech, or K&N v2

^^^Yeah Import Tuner did an intake test on an RSX-S about a year ago, they tested the intakes on the car and the filters seperately, and they said that the Jackson Racing filter flowed better than anybody else's, incl. K&N.
(I just realized how big of a car dork I am for remembering a year-old article on filter-flowing)....
