Anyone know what the spring rates are

Default Anyone know what the spring rates are

I am getting these coilovers from another board member and I was just wondering. I should have them tomorrow. He thinks that they are 12k front 14k rear. Anyone know for sure?

why are the rears stiffer? understeer is for gays.

or for less experienced drivers that dont want to wreck there car..... depending on his sway bar setup his car may handle differently as well. not everyone can have "the best suspension ever"

my point: maybe this user wants this suspension for a reason. Dont be so quick to judge.

That is the spring rate from Mugen. I will try them and see how it works. If I don't like the coilovers then I will see what else there is. I am actually to very rarely if ever track the car. I just got a deal I couldn't refuse on these coilovers.

eh... whatever. you could always change the springs to custom swifts or whatever. and to the above poster asking how stiffer rears make the car understeer, stiffer at the rear means more grip at the rear... which increase understeet, same way staggered wheels increase understeer. it's much safer for inexperienced drivers who can't control oversteer.

Wrong. Please read a suspension book before spouting off things as fact. In general, the stiffer side of the car will lead to less grip than the other side. For example, if your car is understeering, stiffening the front springs will cause more weight to be transferred to the outside tire as the car rolls. This will usually result in a higher slip angle or in practical terms loss of grip.

The same applies to the other end of the car. Stiffer rear springs in comparison to softer front springs will lead to oversteer all else being equal.

Why do the auto-xers run big front anti roll bars? Because, they usually put a wider tire up front which gives them more grip in relation to the back. So, to tame the car they stiffen the front end. If they ddin't do this the car will have even more oversteer tendencies instead of being neutral as it comes from the factory.

Take this with a grain of salt though as alignment, tire pressures, weather conditions, road type, and driving style also affect your vehicle dynamics. But, in general stiffening up one side of the car in relation to the other side will cause that side to slide more.

use your damn brain before trying to spit out false information sir. mugen spring rate choice will hardly lead to understeer at all, in fact, it is a set up that should lean a little more toward oversteer.
