Default AEM EMS

(mods, please move if this is the incorrect section)

Hi,
After doing some research, I've decided to run an EMS. Can someone refer me to the cheapest place to buy one? Also, can anyone give me an idea of how much a tune will cost? I plan to run NA until I have enough money for F/I.

Thanks!

NA is going to cost you a LOT more in the long run than FI. You can spend $5,000 on NA parts and have 230whp, or you can spend $6,000 on a decent turbo setup and have 400whp. Just something to consider.

i agree with toofast. NA is cool, but FI is where the real power is. I will probably go FI at some point. I've seen supercharger setups go for $3500 lightly used. Nice thing about the SC is you keep the power curve of the car which i really enjoy, but it is just a lot more power

Anyway, just something to consider.

The only thing wrong with SC is that it takes power to make power. A turbo is like free power. A good ball-bearing turbo with the right setup will spool by 3500-4000rpm. It doesn't take very long to get to that in 1st, and every shift after that, the turbo will kick in instantly. A Vortech SC is good for +100whp, which would put you at about 300whp. I've seen good turbo setups make 500+whp.

True enough. The turbo cars I've ridden in (none of them were an S2000) have very different power curves. All the power comes on at once rather than building with RPM.

I think it's a matter of preference and budget. Mainly budget From the research I've done, a supercharger kit can be done "right" for less than a turbo. But anyway...I digress.

Thank you all for the great info. I do plan to run FI in the near future. I figure getting an EMS will give my car a little more power until i've done my research on FI systems.

Plus, I will need some kind of piggyback for forced induction.

I'm trying to decide between the HKS F-Con and EMS. I read a post from '04 that said the EMS is the best for the F20s. I dont know if things have changed since then.

Any input?
