WRX to s2k? Im thinking about it
#31
I recently got rid of my E85 tuned 07 STi that was at 350whp and 430 ftlbs and got in an 01 S2K. Like everyone else said two totally different machines, but I love my S. After working at a Subaru Tuning shop it made me not want mine anymore due to the piston issues with the newer models.

Having driven both, I still can't make the decision. In 6 months or so I'll have the means to pick up something in this price range as a toy, and I can't really decide.
The WRX has more room, more torque, and there's a few other things I like it about. The S2k is more "exclusive", revs higher, sounds better, looks better, and a few other things I like about it.
Drive the S2k, and see how you feel about it. Keep in mind that having less room might not seem like a problem now, but there WILL be times when you're going to be thinking "Dang! If I still had a back seat..."

i recently drove another hard topped ap1. i liked it, although i still feel like im waiting for the power up top. I feel like a higher final drive would be awesome, but freeway cruising mpgs would be sacrificed. hard top was nice and i love how it looks, but it whistled at higher speeds and the latches rattled. Also the blind spot visibility sucks.

OEM hardtop with Izzy front bracket FTW - no wistling, no rattling, no blind spots, and resale value of 95% or more (possible to even profit... if you buy used).
I also had an 09 STI. After all the horror stories from fellow track junkies (which is what the car was bought for and to DD) i decided to save myself from headaches and got an '06 S2K. I haven't looked back. My only regret was that i bought the STI first...
If you're a track junky, then it's a no brainer - S2K hands down, every thing about it is better.
WRX/STI if you like to hard park it and/or you need the 'practicality'
oh yeah, and my S2000 MPG driving to Vegas from Los Angeles was ~30-31 mpg. Driving at the same pace in the STI, i got about 23 mpg. DD mpg s2k = 24mpg STI = 20 mpg
MPG was never a deciding factor, but it's icing on the cake after all is said and done.
