WRX to s2k? Im thinking about it
hello there!
I drive a 2005 wrx... Trade me your s2000!!
But im getting very interested in an s2000. I want something more 'fun' to drive, rwd, 2 seater, lightweight. Have any of you come from the subie world? I have yet to drive one, and some of my worries are the 'anemic torque', lack of room, snap oversteer( which i read is mostly driver in experience), and so on and so forth.
Any input would be great.

the s2000 is a completely different creature- I highly recommend going to a dealership for a test drive. the s2000 is hands down more comfortable than the wrx/sti as long as you are under 6'2 and 230-240 lbs. For me the wrx/sti is uncomfortable to drive due to the high seating feel, bouncy seat and horrible clutch pedal placement- i have large feet (size 13) so I have to turn my foot sideways to depress the clutch so when I release it I don't get stuck between the dash and the pedal. The lack of torque (especially low end torque) will take some getting used to. Before buying my s2000 I narrowed my car search down to an early year s2000 (so I could boost it fairly quick) or an 04-05 sti. after test driving them my decision was really easy, and every time I drive my buddies 05 sti I am reminded of how I made the right choice. But you have to consider the fact that there is no back seat or truck on the s2000. So pay attention to how often you drive around with multiple passengers or large items that will not fit in the breadbox we call a trunk lol.
good luck with your search
don't get me wrong- I am not bashing the wrx/sti, they are both great cars. power delivery is great, good handling, they look amazing and very aggressive and are pretty reliable with an amazing exhaust note (as long as you stick with unequal length headers) it just wasn't the car for me.

I also has a modded WRX prior to my S2K. The S2K just feels different, how low it sits, the HID's (one of the best - absolutely stunning at night with the suspension bouncing a little when driving), the steering response, balanced feel, the shifter, the attention it gets, it was just overall the better car for me even though it wouldn't touch my old WRX in a straight line or all out performance (my S2K is stock). As I get older I care less about having the fastest car on the block and more about having a car I connect with better.
True, the S2000 doesn't have a ton of torque and that takes some getting used to. It's a weird feeling at first. Part of the perception problem for me is that the torque curve is so damn long and flat that it gives the impression it has less torque than it does. There is no spike of torque that gives you that kick in the seat feeling. But the more I drove the S2K the more I learned that it needs to be driven harder. I am the type of person to always baby my cars so I was hesitant at first to get more out of it, but this car loves to rev... If you feel the car doesn't have enough torque you aren't driving it hard enough.
I couldn't be happier with the S2K, it never gets old like my WRX did.
There is always boost if you feel you can't get over the low torque....

I have an 07 STI, as well as an 01 S2000. The STI is heavily modified but it is still much more comfortable to drive than the s2000. That being said, the S2000 handles much better, it's much more of a direct feel with the steering being 100x better than the STI.
The s2000 also gets MUCH better gas mileage and is considerably cheaper to insure.
If you drive an s2000, you will fall in love with it, with practicality and power being the only thing you miss from the Subaru.

^ I also own both cars. An 07 Sti & an 01 Ap1. Just like real street said above, the S is more of a direct feel when it comes to handling. Just think "a big ass go kart". It is practically a grown man's toy.
