Is it worth getting LoJack?

Mine paid for itself with decreased premiums in like 18 months. Also go the extra insurance for like 150 which lets you run a 1000 deductible on comprehensive + puts quite a bit of money in your pocket from Lojack. I think actually you don't even need the extra insurance and either my ins company or lojack pays the deductible. I'm in LA so insurance is higher than almost anywhere in the country. It was a complete no-brainer for me. I wish I would have got the notification deal though.

Speaking of insurance fee breaks and what not, I neglected to mention that LoJack offered me a guarantee. Though I can't remember the exact terms at the moment, It was something like, if the car was not recovered in the first 24 hours, LoJack gives me $2500 in pocket, and a $2500 credit to the dealership that sold me the LoJack system.

R3DS2K: I see your point, and the answer is: If my car has been stolen long enough to be stripped or damaged, no. The point of LoJack (and the early warning system), however, is that the police will be looking for your vehicle as soon as possible after it has been stolen. With the LoJack system, it is quite possible that the car can be recovered within mere hours (or less) after it was first moved from where you left it -- probably before anything has been done to it.
Additionally, there is that aspect of catching the theives IN THE ACT, as opposed to finding your striped and abondoned vehicle by the side of the road with no one to blame.
To me, if I'm going to have a car stolen, I'd be happy to pay $800 JUST to have those responsible put in jail.

whether you get the car back or not is not a problem. if they find your car stripped or totaled then they pay it off and give you money for a new car. in my case they give me $8k for a new car, but i'm not sure if everyones in the same or not.
