Whats Your Opinion On This S2K
So I am looking at an S2K pretty local here. Its a 2001 Silverstone Metallic, paint looks to be in great condition minus some minor blemishs. It has 54K miles and I may be able to get it for $15k if the owner accepts my offer. Now the catch of it is the only thing that puts me in question is that it was in an accident 3 years ago. Front end collision, owner who has it now said he took it to Honda and had them inspect the car because of this, car showed no frame damage but carfax did list that there was suspension work done. So whats the deal? What would you all do?

I'd be curious to know what type of suspension work was involved... I put my S2000 into a curb at a high speed in 2004, and the repair was completely underbody/suspension related. It came out flawless, BTW.
And for my S2000 carfax lists the same thing... "Suspension Service" - not actually indicating it was an actual accident.

Its an excellent deal, but I would not take a chance on this particular car's (the S2000 in general) suspension being anything but perfect. It is a masterpiece that must be as it was when it left the factory for me to be satisfied.....and it sounds like there is a good chance the car you are looking at is sub-par by those standards.

found different one now, put my down payment on it and hopefully picking it up next weekend. 2002 Sebring Silver, 70K miles, clean as can be only one owner and it was leased getting the car for $15k

Tell that to the track guys.
Whats left of the suspension?
And some ppl have replaced the entire rear sub-frame with aftermarket...
Put the car on the machine, check the frame again. This will tell you how bad the damage was. Also, get the repair history from Honda since thats where it was repaired. You have every right to.

Decided not to go with this one, I found a 02' Sebring Silver for $15k everything checks out I just had to look a little harder and found myself a better deal. This car is like mint condition I'm shocked the dealership is selling for such a low price. It's had one owner and it was sold as a lease, its got slightly higher mileage than the usual for its age but the car is beautiful and carfax is clean. I'll be sure to let you all know how I make out in whatever I decide.
