I just joined this site, as I am thinking about making a switch from my modded '02 WRX to an S2k. I know this question probably gets annoying, but responses get outdated rather quickly!
I was wondering what I could expect to pay for a clean, early S2k with average/low miles? Is ~ $15k a reasonable expectation?

I think 15k is a reasonable price range. I'm also looking for an S and thats my budget too. It might not be the best time of the season to buy since sellers usually mark up their prices for spring and summer. However since the economy is in a recession you might find someone willing to get rid of it for cheaper.

For 15k though you might only be able to get AP1's with around 50k miles or so. AP2's in that price range will probably have 70-100k miles.

 

Here are some ballpark "good buy" numbers IMO. Clean, non salvaged, with records.

AP1 120K $11K
02-03 AP1 90K $14K (-1K for 00-01)
02-03 AP1 60K $16K (-1K for 00-01)
02-03 AP1 30K $18K (-1K for 00-01)

04-05 AP2 60K $19K
04-05 AP2 30K $22K (+1K for 06)

Like new 04-05-06 AP2 <10K $25K

Like new <5K 07 AP2 $27K

Brand new 08 $30K
Brand new CR $34K (includes hard top)

OEM hard top for any model (except CR of course) +2K
