Default trying to be an s2k owner but...

Hey all,

New member here, but I have been trolling these boards for quite some time. I have been looking at S2000's for a really long time, but havnt been serious about buying until about the last 6 months. Finally, I found a deal I want to jump on. 2004 with 45k miles for 13.5k (decent deal?). Now, I have about 5k cash, and my car, which I am going to sell to carmax im thinking for around 2k, but what about the other 6.5k? well, thats where my issue is. I don't have much credit as I have only had a credit card for just going on 2 years (never late), and I don't make a killer salary ($10/hr). However, I live at home still and have no other bills. I can definitely afford the car, but BOA has declined my application for the loan. My question is, where are you guys getting financed through? do you know of any places that might be able be able to finance me? any help would be greatly appreciated as I have never done any type of financing before on my own and i am kind of lost.

Thanks for your time and I hope to figure this stuff out so I can become a real member of this forum, an actual s2k owner.

$10 an hour isnt much for this car.

After payments you will have insurance, gas, tune ups and parts.

Won't leave very much money at the end of the month

Since you still live at home and are only making $10/hour, odds are you're young (didn't see your age). It's probably safe to assume you're under 23, so you need to realize that insurance is going to cost more than the car itself. You may be able to afford the car, but you're not going to be able to afford anything else. Do the smart thing, keep saving up money, move out of your parents house and buy one when you can truly afford it, which is on less than 1/10th of your monthly income.

+1 -- affording the car is much more than just making payments. Can you also afford insurance, tires, etc?

ask your parents, If they like you they will usually give you the best rates...

as mentioned before you need to add the cost of ownership to your equation.
