I wanted an S2000 6 years ago. I just got mine.

IF I had this car in HS I would probably have got into an accident. I was a "good" kid in HS too; good grades, no bad behavior, but I liked to drive fast.

But everyone is different, and I would advise if you get the car, be safe.

I just turned 19 and I'm hoping to get an S2000 soon. I would say that if you can afford it, go for it. I figured that I could either get an impractical car now when I'm still young or when I'm old and retired. In between I'll have a family to support and a 2 seater convertible wouldn't be ideal. I plan to get the S and keep it just like my dad has kept his 69 Camaro. He has had it since he was a teenager and he still has it to take out during the summer and have fun. At this point in my life, a two seater is fine for my daily driver and as I get older, it will be my car to enjoy when the weather is nice.

If the question was are you too young for the S.
My answer is yes.
It takes lots of driving experience to be able to handle the twitchyness of this and many cars.
Youth often brings with it the desire to press things to the limit but not the experience of how to correct before trouble hits.
Just one guys opinion.

Your parents say you're too irresponsible to drive a car with 240hp? Do they have any valid reasons? If so, maybe you should wait.

The e30 M3 came out when I was in high school and I wanted one really bad but I was stuck driving a Corolla (much worse than your G20 I assure you). With the way most young folks drive (I know, I was a big offender myself), I would have gotten myself into lots of trouble had I gotten the M3.

If you truely believe that you can be responsible both in driving and your financial decisions, go for it. Ask yourself the question and you'd have your answer. Good luck.

This is exactly what my dad told me. I'm 18, had an RSX Type S, always loved the S2000. We went to the dealership for him to get a new Accord, and I test drove an S2000 just for the hell of it. I loved it, but I said to myself "it's too much, it's too impractical." My dad told me, "Do it now when you're 18, this is probably the only time you're going to be able to do what you want. If I had a job like you, I'd do it in a second." So I signed the papers, and drove my 2006 Laguna Blue home

I do get a lot of hate/jealousy from people saying that I'm "driving my daddy's car." I paid for it myself completely, no co-signer. My name is the only one on the title.

people act like 240 hp rwd is alot....please, i learned stick on a modded ls1/fd ... i think the guy will be fine with the s2000....

I have wanted the s2000 since the first time I saw it in late 99. I am now 22 years old and finally got mine. It was a stock 2002 with 60k on it and it was 17,000. I got it and I love it. The insurance is still kinda bad because I live in the city. ($370 a month). But im moving soon. I have 1 point on my license (For failure to display licese because I forgot my wallet). I have found myself to be VERY responsible since I got this car. I dont speed just to do it. I tro to behave as much as possible just because I dont want my insurance to go up and put me in a bad spot financially. I have experienced one of these "Unexpected" costs. I recently had to replace the oem clutch. I got a killer deal on a competition clutch stage 1 kit and a buddy of mine owns a shop that specializes in hondas and he put it in for me for $150. So what im trying to say pretty much is the longer you wait the more you will respect/appreciate the car when you get it. The s2000 was my 5th honda and my 8th car since I was 16. All of which I paid for myself. I had a 94 civic coupe, 92,93 and 94 civic hatchbacks, 89 crx, 90 240sx, 89 mustang gt.

Just save up. I turned 18 and bought myself one a month later. AND, to top it off, it's already getting a turbo installed
