Compare the cost of the Mugen hood to the Lingenfelter hood. Compare the cost of the Mugen headeR to the cost of Lingenfelter headerS, and also compare the GAINS from said exhaust manifolds.
Compare the cost of the Mugen cold air intake, and the cost of the Lingenfelter CAI.
'nuff said.

i dont think i found a turbo kit for it priced lower then 5,000 on the forum and thats a used price. I'm not doubting the price of parts for the s2k but i think ill take my chances.
A turbo kit done right will cost you about 10k on the S2000. thats a 3rd of what the car costs!!

I had a '97 C5 and modded it extensively: 383 stroker motor, custom ecu reprogramming, CAI, MAF, straight through Corsas, '19 rims, upgraded & lowered suspension & ST shifter. It dynoed 446 rwhp and 464 rwtq and ran an 11.71 at Bradenton FL with street tires. Very fun car with and without the mods and one of the best bang for buck cars. Plus it had tons of storage space (it was a coupe) for trips, there is a huge aftermarket and vette owners are always planning events.
The vette and S2K are different animals, kind of like comparing Mohammed Ali to Sugar Ray Leonard. I wanted a light roadster to fling around curves on weekends & squirt through city traffic during the week & for that the S2K is ideal. The $349 lease deal and 20+ mpg clinched it.
What year S2K to get? Check out the lease deal & if it works for you get a brand new one...it worked for me. Even if you intend to mod it the lease may work for you as long as you are prepared to buy it at the end of the lease.

Driving home after picking up my S this weekend I stopped at a rest stop and talked to some guy in a brand new Z06.. I asked him if he wanted to trade and he said he would if he could fit in the car, hahaha
He had nothing but good things to say about the S though.

I think you'll enjoy the S2K more if you are into a car that has history and is true performance car at heart . Don't get me wrong a Vette has alot of history as well and is a very fast and good handling car too but the S2000 always seems to put a smile on my face when I go out for a cruise. You made a good choice coming to this forum.
As for what year to look into that's up to you. The AP1's (00-03) rev higher and IMO have the most rugged race car feel out of all the stooks. The AP2 (04-05) has all the upgrades (motor, body, interior) and still has the throttle cable so Forced induction is still simple. But AP2's (06+) are drive by wire which some ppl don't like. But I envy because there the most advanced, newest and Hondata has a reflash for there ecu
Good luck with your hunt for the perfect s2k!
