Exclamation s2000 NOOB

Hello everybody, my name is Aaron and I am not a s2000 owner although I am looking to be. Very soon.
Currently I am looking at a 2002 Black with 26,xxx miles and apparently some aftermarket modifications such as wheels and strut bars. The car came out of a lease and apparently has been garaged since the first "owner". The seller is asking $18,200 for the car and for some reason that semmed cheap. I don't know id I should be concerned. From what I know of, the car has had a clutch replaced already and it is under warranty. Is it true that some s2000's have had clutch problems? He mentioned that it was not bad but he did not want to have to worry about it later so he went ahead and replaced it and it is still under warranty (the clutch). I don't know if that should be a matter of concern to me. I am going to check out the car tomorrow to see it for the first time. Please help me out if you have any advice or regarding this.
Thank you,
Aaron

That is a really good price. Get a carfax on it and have it checked out by an independant mechanic. Also make sure his mods aren't something that might void your warranty. Simple exhaust, strut bars and rims won't but certain other things may. Other than that that sounds like a good deal. Just because something sounds to good to be true doesn't mean it isn't.

He told me that the struts were installed by honda. Supposedly its mint. Is there an obvious way to tell wether the car has been abused or not? I know the current owner hasn't but I don't know about the lease. It's on its second clutch, that worries me a little. The car is not under warranty, the clutch is.

The car also has black housing headlights with clear corners. Is that stock on the black car?

Something sounds a little fishy. The owner says he replaced the clutch even though it wasn't bad? If it isn't broke don't fix it. Other than paying attention to that, just listen for any unusual sounds. I know you don't know what they are supposed to sound like but they aren't that different from any other car. If you really wanted to, you could find someone in your local area that has an S2000 go with you.

BTW - Welcome to the site and good luck with your S2000 purchase/search.

No, he probably removed the diffusers from the headlights. The black housing is stock.

If they do not have amber, does that mean that they modified the stock headlights? Could they have bought them like that?

I would say to post your location and see if you can get someone from here in the your area to go and check it out with you so you dont buy someone elses problem. Just my 2 cents.
