[QUOTE=S~Factor,Oct 20 2006, 07:47 PM]Really? Is this a common problem? Is it a leaking problem coz I see no oil drops in my driveway.
Thanks for welcoming me. I'm glad I found this place.

Lionheart,
Looks like you've driven lots of cars, what do you think of Audi TT? It was the only one I wasn't able to test drive that day. It was the car that steered me to look at sports car as my next vehicle.

S~Factor, I've owned a new dark green TT Roadster for about 9 months before the S2000. I think this says enough

Oil consumption varies greatly from car to car, and in some cases even from one fillup to the next. Most of the time my car (a 2000 model) uses less than a half quart between changes (I change the oil at 3,000 mile intervals), but there have been a couple times when it has used more than a quart in less than 3,000 miles.
Some cars seem to use more oil when they are driven harder, but my car is driven pretty hard, pretty regularly, and consumption does not usually increase just because of some hard running (like a track day, autocross, or hard canyon running), but every car seems to be different in this respect.
Just check the oil every time you get gas and you shouldn't have any problems.

I don't agree with Red that "most of the time" is accurate. Many engines consume can consume a quart in 1000 miles. Possibly more. It's not a problem, per-se, it just needs to be watched.
Please, as a new owner, keep your eye on your dipstick at every fill-up. Keep a quart in your trunk, and add a little at a time if your oil drops down a couple of Xs on the dipstick.
Truly a case of better safe than sorry.'
