Hi my name is Ray and I'm an-S2K-oholics. It has been 12 hours since my last redline.

My vehicles:
'02 S2000 with 49,500 miles
'97 Ford Explorer (lowered 2")
'01 Rav4 (wife's)

I joined about a week or so ago and have been searching and been finding lots of great info. You guys know your stuff here!

How I came about owning an S2K?
I took a Friday off work, with a list of cars to test drive, I went on a test-drive-fun-filled day. I made up my mind to be open minded and "sleeping on it" before making my final decision.

I test drove the following cars (in order):
Porche 01' Boxster (MT)
Porche 02' Boxster S (AT)
Infiniti '04 G35 coupe
Chrysler '05 Crossfire
Nissan '03 350Z Touring
Honda '02 S2000
(Audi TT)

All the above are great in their own way. But nothing compares to S2000. My plan on "sleeping on it" was scratched. I was hooked on my 3rd shift on the S2000. Since its lighter, you feel more in control. The shifts are shorter and smoother compared to the other cars. Didn't get a chance to test drive the TT. Didn't need to.

I could go on and on but I am not gonna bore you anymore (or am I too late?)

Looking forward to years of learning more about my S2000.

Ray

Welcome, Ray.

Be aware that AP1 engines consume oil. Check the level at every fill up.

Really? Is this a common problem? Is it a leaking problem coz I see no oil drops in my driveway.

Thanks for welcoming me. I'm glad I found this place.
not a leaking problem it just eats up a lot of oil.....

^ That's correct. The early S2000 engines normally consume oil (burn it). It has to do with the way the cylinder walls were honed. Later engines (MY04+) used a different technique, and those engines don't burn much.

The point is, check your oil and make sure you don't drop low on the dipstick. Your F20C engine needs good, clean oil to be happy!

Test drove also the Boxster, Boxster S, 911 Carrera, Z4 3.0, SLK 230Kompressor etc when deciding on my new car... First time I hit VTEC in the test-S2000 and went all the way to 9k on the tach, I was hooked and I knew that this was MY car! Congrats and have fun with it!

Lionheart,

Looks like you've driven lots of cars, what do you think of Audi TT? It was the only one I wasn't able to test drive that day. It was the car that steered me to look at sports car as my next vehicle.
