Default Potential own (I read the other posts!)

Hey guys,

Potential owner here, and I'm hoping for some input. I read the posts by dammitjim and Themikewoo, but I'm looking for some suggestions from you all.

Background:
I currently own a 2011 Cr-Z, and it's fun... but it's not exciting. I put it on coils and put some sticky rubber on it, but it still doesn't have enough *Umpf*.
I test drove my first S2000 today ('05 w/ ~23k on the ticker) - and it's awesome. Yesterday I test drove an '03 Porsche 911 Carrera (cabriolet), also very nice, but I think the S2000 is quite a bit more sensible.

Vehicles:
The two s2k's I'm looking at (at a large dealership, who seem to be pretentious a**holes) are as follows:

2005 s2k Yellow, ~23k miles, $24,900 FIRM
2005 s2k Silver, ~3,981 miles, $29,700 EVEN FIRMER!

Do these prices seem right?? I know that most don't go off of the KBB for these, since the laws of economics apply more than the ideas of KBB, but $29.7 seems high. I think I'd rather go with the low mileage one, since it gives me a better feeling about the type of person that drove it prior to selling it (garage kept, only brought out on sunny days). Heck, the interior still smells like it did off the lot!

Give me some weigh in people!

Thanks

Welcome.

Thanks for the name drop in your first post ever on this website.

Question: How much are you willing to spend?

The max is actually 30... the 911 I was looking at was 29.9 w/40k on the ticker, but I've shied away from that due to the on-going maintenance costs that are associated with owning a Porsche (even though I would be doing my own maintenance).

And you're welcome! Thanks for the informative post

'03 911 is of the 996 type, stay away due to engine issues ( that's why it's not much more than an s2000)

IMHO the yellow one is a little high but with a clean record it might work.

Silver is bout $4k high.

Easy for us to say since most of us have one and spring is coming

I was thinking the same with the silver... I offered 24k, and they wouldn't come down a cent from 29.7. They pretty much told me to get lost, and that if I don't buy it, someone else will within a few weeks. KBB is 20 on it... this is really throwing me off.

if you crash the 05 with 3k miles insurance only pays out the nada or kbb value seems like a big risk, and with a 30k budget you should look into CR, good luck!

I agree. With a 30k budget you should shoot for a CR

Yeah the same dealership has a 2008 CR with just over 5k miles listed for 35k... so its yet another step up. Is that the better route to go?
