Hello everybody! Names Michael but you can call me Leaf if u want lol. I'm 25 and live in Vista CA 92084.
I recently acquired a 2002 S2K for my daily driver.
I had to get a new DD because a tragically totaled my last DD in a freak accident where I fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a tree, and since I happened to not be wearing a seatbelt I flew out the window and broke my neck and nearly died. My old DD was a bad ass 85' AE86 that I had put my heart and soul into building from a POS into a sexy DD/track car.
Back to my AP1. It's stock under the hood but I bought it with Megan Spec RS coilovers, Megan Control arms, modified steering knuckles for increased steering angle (for drifting), and an AP2 rear subframe installed by the PO. The PO is a pro drifter/fabricator/mechanic so the suspension has been set masterfully for drifting but is still a comfortable DD.
I got my S2K for about half price cuz it has a salvage title due to theft.
I was looking for a car that would be a fun yet reliable DD without having to do much if any additional mods. I thought this was the perfect car. BUT IT IS ALREADY GIVING ME SOMEWHAT SERIOUS PROBLEMS! I have only had it for a month and I have a check engine light! FML! Codes 1410 and 411 if I remember correctly. They mean that the Air Contol Valve Vacuum Control Solenoid is not working and that the Air Pump is not working. A new Air Pump costs $745 effing dollars! I don't know whether to hope for a broken pump or electrical problems. />
On top of those problems I am hearing timing chain noise. I prob need new chain guides. And I'm hearing possible throwout bearing noise.
So I'm really unhappy w my S2K right now. Don't get me wrong, I love driving it. I just wasn't expecting it to be draining my money so soon.
I don't have any additional mods planned in the near future but when the clutch goes out I plan on installing an F1 Racing chromoly flywheel and an Exedy oem clutch. I had the same set up on my AE86 and it rocked.
Besides that I'm interested in doing the exhaust and getting a hard top.
Going turbo would be cool but I prob won’t ever go that extreme.
So that's my story. All comments/input/advice welcome.
