New S2K owner (almost)
Well. Despite haveing to fight the car gods tooth and grill. I found a black '04. Made a deal. The guy is just fixing it up for me and the I get a purchase inspection and boom a car I will love and my fiancé will despise lol. Paying a bit more than I wanted but lowest miles and best condition in this price range in the current market and the sales guy is nice.
Couple things wrong. There is a tear in the top. Not huge but it's through and through. Plus there is quite a bit of ware from what looks like the frame rubbing on the Canvas. Are the tops thin on a S2K? Should I be saving for a hard top for these harsh California winters?
The radio was factory and didn't get signal and I don't think the dash controls worked.
The Bezel on the gage was loose. The steering wheel column was very loose.
The e-brake button sticks. Kinda have to play with the button to get it to pop out.
Couple of cosmetic things but generally good shape.
Otherwise the car runs great. Easy to drive in traffic. Shifts quick and smooth. Good torque. I don't think vtec kicked in lol I'm use to shifting an old mustang. The only thing I heard was a slight squeaking at the end of the long test drive, sounded like a spring with your grandpas joints.
Anyway. Should I be concerned about any of the things I have listed? Would someone run a vin for me?
It's going to cost me money to get the car inspected so do you think a compression test and leak down test is necessary? The car seems to run smooth.
Your help is appreciated.

Welcome! The convertible top isn't thin IMO but the frame might have a sharp point on it somewhere. That's probably what caused the tear. Find that point and smooth it out to prevent future wear and tear.
As for the VIN, you might run it through getvin.com. From what I've seen, it's much like CARFAX but it's free.
How many miles are on it?
