New S2000 Owner
I just wanted to say hey to everyone. I have owned an S2000 for 2 weeks now. I am currently an Audi Tech, I have owned VWs up to now. I must say I enjoy how simple and easy the S is to work on. I just installed an Invidia dual exhaust (the thing is to damn loud comming from Borla and militek) and have a res. test pipe on the way for next weekend.
Now onto the main reason I made this thread I am looking to purchase my next upgrade and I am having trouble making a descision. I was looking at a few choices:
1. Carbon fiber hood (not much prefromance)
2. Neo W/harness adapter and a Wideband
3. Headers Not sure of brand to go with (hows Megans or Invidia)
I plan on autox the car this summer, but it is also my DD.
Btw: The F20c has to be one of the most fun engines to rev out, Only motor that I have had more fun W/ is the new RS4 4.2 that revs out at 8250.
Ill post some pics of the S later today

I'd like to learn about a carbon fiber hood, too, including price.
stuntman, if you get the cb hood, will you also lighten something in the rear, so as to preserve the even weight distribution? If you are racing, I suppose you will get rid of the spare tire, maybe the soft top...?

newdriver,
that doesn't make sense...unless we are talking about a "carbon fiber hood" that is actually faux c.b., or merely c.b. coating on top of the OEM part.
BTW, anybody know what the OEM hood and body panels are made of? Steel? ... Aluminum, by chance, like the NSX....?

The s2000 hood is aluminum, btw. That is why it is so light.

Yea the hood is a looks thing more than anything (why I was saying not preformance), I looked into weight saving and can see I am hard pressed to find any. I keep nothing in my car btw, I dont want to loose the soft top quite yet.
Anyone know the weight of the megan header (waiting to see a dyno thread also)
same situation with the invidia header.
This winter I am going W/ a comptech rear diff with maybe 4.57s

Thanks newdriver & stuntman.
I haven't been able to find specs on a c.b. hood. That's interesting about the net gain/loss in weight with the hardware.
The sk2 is all aluminum? That is totally cool!
However, my doorjamb says GVWR is 3385. Less 400 capacity would make the car, obviously, 2985. Have I got that right? If so, I consider the s2k something of a porker. Honda was right to try to make the CR better by making it lighter (although they didn't go far enough). 237 hp out of a 2.2L four cyl. is pretty darn good. My '91 Porsche 944S2 weighed 3000 lbs. and produced only 207 hp.)
The s2k is too heavy, imo. (If, as I say, I have the above right.)

I had over 200 pounds out of mine at one point. Here's some free weight to lose:
Gut the trunk -42lbs
Remove front and rear bumper support braces -18lbs (9 each)
Empty windshield washer reservoir - 8lbs
Remove passenger seat -35lbs
Lightweight batteries are only 75$ or so and save about 15 pounds
You've already lost about 25 with the Invida and test pipe. This should make you significantly faster than stock. I would spend your money on the battery and a used VAFC2 (NEO does the same thing for twice as much) as you can get it for around 175 used. Tuning will run you 100-200 and you'll be up a good 15hp over stock with a beefier midrange. This should allow you to stomp stock S2k's and run with Evo/STi.
