New (noob) AP1 Owner!
Hi all—
About to become a new 2002 AP1 owner of the beast below. I’m very excited - been wanting one of these since my high school days.
Can anyone offer thoughts on the undercarriage from the pics - anything stand out?
Also thinking of replacing the tires - they are running all weather Aspen Touring tires.

The postage stamp size photos don't give enough detail for me to offer an opinion. Will also help to know the mileage and where this car spent the last 20 years to judge if the underbody is normal for that mileage and climate.
Don't jump right into new tires although all-seasons will only offer mediocre handling. "What's the best tires?" competes with "What's the best engine oil?" for discussions here. Take your time and consider the wealth of experience here. There aren't that many high performance 16" tires marketed today so I'd personally consider putting a set of OEM 17" AP2 wheels on the car which will offer many more tire choices as well as update the styling of the car. There are excellent reproduction AP2V1 (2004-2005) wheels available for about the same price as refinishing a genuine set. I'm not a fan of aftermarket wheels and AP2 wheels will simply bolt on with no considerations.
If this will be a weekend car I'd go with Extreme Performance or Max Performance summer tires. Extremes wear faster but it takes a lot of weekends to wear out a set.

Replacing the tires is a good idea. There have been many, many threads on it. A nice summer tire will really change the experience for the better.
Good luck.

I like to look under the hood and I'm not seeing any rust there. Nothing unusual under the car after 20 years..
56,000 miles in 20 years is a low average. If you don't have the CarFAX you can enter the VIN in myCARFAX dot com and see some useful service and mileage information. Will also show where and when the car was titled. You don't get the full CarFAX but it's free.
