Need opinion: Buying 2001 S2k
Hi guys,
I am ready to buy a s2k .. Looking at a used 2001 yellow s2k. I test drove it already but i haven't had many experience driving s2k's so i dont know what is normal performance or if it has problems... feels fine to me except there are vibrations but i guess thats a convertable for u.. Any tips of what to look for b4 buying one?
It has about 42xxx miles on it
I haven't checked carfax yet but he says there's no accidents
I will bring it to my mechanic to check out the frame and suspensions
Anything else i should look at?
Thx

Listen for a clutch buzz while decelerating.
00-01 had a TSB on it...the springs in the clutch are obnoxious. I would see about getting that taken care of as a part of the purchase...my stock clutch in my '01 lasted 97K...but I would strongly advise getting the revised version of the clutch because it is far stronger than the one the 00-01s had when they left the factory.
I would also think about a compression test, and seeing how noisy the top is with it up on the highway. There was also a TSB on the latches for the 00-01s....mine was never done and it is super windy with the top up at 60+mph.

I did notice a buzzing sound while decelerating in 3rd and 2nd gear.. thought it was just like that (more feel for the car?)
what is wrong with the springs?
i was planning to replace the clutch with a newer stock one anyway
they are asking 25,000 canadian
the top is slashed but stiched up and it doesn't leak (not a big deal for me)
but it comes with 19in racing harts with falken 235/35/19 which are brand new (2months) and 2 oem tires + rims
The vibration seems like it was from the convertable on the passenger side but its not a big big deal for me..
