Near Future Owner
Hey guys,
I was doing my weekly search for an S2000 on craigslist tonight and I stumbled upon this site. There is so much useful information here! I'm a full time shift manager at Raising Cane's (it's a chicken joint) and a full time student majoring in Business Management. I don't actually own an S2000, but with my most recent loan paid off, I'm looking to get a new car! I'm in a slow, boring 2000 Honda Accord - VTECH REPRESENT - right now and it does not fit my style at all. I've been craving an S2k for about a year now and the opportunity has finally arrived. What I was hoping to get from you guys is a few suggestions for a new car enthusiast looking to make a purchase. I know that I want an S2000, 100%. I also know that I want this car to last me until I need to buy a minivan to tote the kids around in...I'd say an easy 5-7 years. It will be my main driver and I plan to add a few aftermarket features to it. Those will come later though. What stumps me is how do I decide what year/model to go after? What is the general lifespan of an S2000 driven like it's meant to be driven? How many miles is too many? What aftermarket features should I avoid when looking for an S2k? Any help or direction you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated! Anyways, I'm glad to have found this site.

Low miles, unbeaten, and un-modded is the best. That being said there are S2000's out there with over 200,000 miles still running strong. It really comes down to price and availablity. Good luck, you'll love the ride!!!

I would look for AP2 with low miles, not beaten up or severly modded. Check all the body panels so that it has original vin# and that it has not been involved in a wreck.

Depending on your expense account I'd go with an ap1 you can always interchange the parts you like from an ap1 into it later if you choose to. Look for something with low miles.I have a 2000 with under 150k and I drive it daily. I've only had to worry about general maintenance. so don't settle for something cheap with over 200k miles its probably been abused.
