Default MY05 S2K

Hey Guys,

I just purchased a new 2005 S2K.
It was a leftover at my local dealership. They have received in Dec 05 and just could not move it.
I picked it up for 28g including delivery. The car had 21 miles on it.

I would just like to say that the specifications on the HP numbers do not do this car justice. It is a lot faster then it seems and the handling is spectacular. I look forward to the nice weather and the upcoming S2ki meets in the north east.

Any suggestions or tips for a new S2K owner?

Yeah it only has 240 hp and 167 lbs of TQ. The car is nicely tuned.

Almost 2 years. Since DEC 05. I thought it was a deal I could not pass up on.

First of all, congrats and welcome to the club

You bought the best MY, and although it's not quite as fast as a Sebring Silver, she's still plenty fast.

First and foremost (and I doubt this is a problem with the car), check for spring spacers. Horrible little things. Honda puts them in the springs to raise the car's overall height during shipping (so it can clear the truck ramps etc...), but they're damn near deadly if you drive with em. Read up on the problem

Second thing you should do, in my humble opinion, is consider a clear bra. While the car is new, and without dings, you can protect it with a clear bra. I followed a random persons advice here and got it done. It cost me a chunk of change, but never once did I question the decision afterwards. It was the best 'mod' I've done. I posted on the subject a while ago, but I can't find it. Here's what I did find though.

There are those that argue you shouldn't V-tec it until after a certain amount of miles on the car. I for one subscribed to that, and took it easy on her until 600ish. It's not a magic number, it's just letting the engine break in a bit before you beat the snot out of it.

Last but definetly not least, buy some sunscreen, and keep it in the 'secret' compartment

Hey

Thanks for the helpful suggestions.
I checked out all of the struts and there was no plastic holding it.
I guess the dealership took care of it already.
I feel bad for those that still have it in there. That is really messed up.

Once again thanks a lot for the help and the warm welcome!

Congrats on the new car.

$28,000 plus tax for a 3 yr old car??? That is way too much for an 05 model. I wouldn't have paid more than $28K out the door. People are getting 2007's for $28,500 plus tax right now. I hope you plan to keep it a while

Price does have something to do with the area of the country in which it's bought.
But look at the bright side. IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR.
I would assume that this car was priced at well over $30k and maybe over $32k just a year ago.
Someone somewhere is always getting a better deal then the average purchaser but don't let this fact detract from the fair price you paid.
Life is short. Have fun. Enjoy the car.

Gratz on the 05! I had issues with my factory alignment and the damn stock Potenza's. Still a great car! Find your secret compartment yet?
