May be buying an S2K
Hi guys, my names Ricky. I may be buying an 03 S2k soon and was hoping to get some opinions to see if this deal is really worth it. I went and test drove it a few days ago and man did I like it. The S2k is black on black w 56K and a Pioneer headunit. Its pretty pricey but I'm getting it from a Honda dealer so I expected the price to be high. I'm trading in my car for about 3k so its gonna be about $16100 with a 2 year/24k mile drivetrain warranty. I'm gonna be financing it as well. Overall the car looked really good cosmetically and mechanically, though I'll admit I'm not too knowledgeable about hondas. I would greatly appreciate any opinions.

I agree with previous statements. That doesnt sound like a great deal. When buying from a dealership your going to pay more in order for the dealship to make money, if you buy from a private owner your probably going to get a better price. I'd check out ebay, autotrader, craigslist and even this forum. Also if your willing to travel to pick up the car your probably going to find a much better deal that way. For $16,000 you could get a 04 or newer possibly. I just found a 2003 for 10K in S.F. or an 02 for 10,500 in L.A. (orange county). Look more and you'll find better deals, or take those prices to the dealership and haggel ALOT! Car dealerships are HURTING these days so you can probably talk them down.

Its 16100 walkout after the trade, it would have been about 14000 walkout if I don't take the warranty but I don't really plan on doing much or anything to the car. Only problem with traveling or finding a cheaper car is that I live in FL and a lot of cars here are priced higher than most in other parts of the country. I wouldn't mind traveling just the fact that if something happens to the car on my way back then I will be in a tight spot, I don't feel like risking my job over it, plus the hassle of registering the car twice. If I remember right tag and title in CA is like $800. Also I can't go to a private seller or the private dealerships considering no one will give me a lone unless I go with a big dealership. I know I'm kinda talking myself into but my other car is just too much of a PITA that I really want to get rid of it.

Rick, understood FL cars can bring a little more $$$ than other parts of the country, but not that much more. Also understood your situation of buying through a dealer, but I really believe there to be better deals than the one you have presented...Good luck as it sounds you've sold yourself on this car, but patience will bring the better deal...

Well if everyone really believes its not so great of a deal then I'll go today and try to haggle about 1.5-2k on the price as well my credit union thinks i'm overpaying. As much as I don't want to wait much longer I came to this forum for some opinions from experienced owners and I got them. How much does you guys believe its worth then?
