Default Living with the s2k every day..

Hey everyone, new to the forum and looking into the possibility of an 07 s2000 for my next car. A friend of mine has a MY00 and lets me drive it from time to time. Every time i get out i say "i need to get one of these". This is not his daily driver, so he couldn't really give me a straight answer. My question is.. what is it like to live with this car everyday? Is is easily pushed around by bumps and divets in the road? I am looking at an 07 s2k and an 03 bmw m3. I would like to go with the s2k cause its cheaper and just as much fun in my opinion, but i would like to see what owners have to say about it. Thank in advance!

The car isn't for everyone. You'll get those little nuiances such as:

Not being able to take more than 1 person,
Limited storage space,
Somewhat noisy cruising,
Bumpy ride depending on road conditions,
Creaks and rattles from the top,

but once you get on a road that allows you to drive the car like its suppose to be driven (reving hi, lots of curves, top down posing etc), you easily forget all the little things.

I live in Colorado, and the s2k is my daily driver. Usually the winters here are mild and I can handle it but this is a freak year and my car has not moved an inch. Another 1-2ft coming this weekend. (after 3 sequncial blilzzards followed by 5in of snow a couple days later and now this!) WTFFF

Snow is my only problem, other then that it is a great DD!!

Its my DD and I love it, rain or shine

I think the AP2 is much better suited for DD duty than the AP1

The car will probably be more reliable and cheaper to maintain than an m3..or any bmw.

An 03 m3 is going to be WAY more comfortable and practical than an s2k. It's a bigger and heavier car. It has a roof. MSRP is $20k higher and you get a lot of creature comforts for that kind of money.

They're very different cars. Try driving both and see which you want.

this is true... ill make my decision once i drive the m3 and the MY07 s2k... is there that much of a difference between the 2.0 liter and the 2.2? Ive heard mixed things like "little or no change" and "a bit more torquey". and also i read somewhere (i think) that they made small suspension changes to the 2nd gens to make it a little more forgiving (i could be totally wrong, and correct me if i am haha) is there also a big difference in that department?

I used to live in Denver, and honestly- I don't know if I could have the S for a DD there. Snow is bad there. I guess the brightside is that snow is not year round, and I remember the snow melts and that the streets are cleared out pretty regularly. An S2000 is a lot to commit to, but as someone has pointed out above- it is a very rewarding experience.
