Hello, all. Been on the hunt for a sporty convertible, had been focused on a Mazdaspeed Miata...until I tool a ride in a nearly stock 05 Formula Red S2K. Mazda who? Was also looking at BMW Z4 and 350Z Touring, both of which are also off the list. Working on finding the right S2K now, and saving up a bit more down payment. Should have something in the garage in the next few months, to complement the g/f's recent 07 TL Type-S (6spd). She's looking forward to driving her car more often!
Noob Alert!: Regarding aftermarket air intakes, been a Honda guy for about 2 decades, and I recall that the FI system is Closed-Loop on the Hondas and any exhaust/fuel/air changes usually require some ECU remapping. Is this the case with the S2Ks? The first one I test drove, beautiful Yellow, had an exhaust that was ear-bleedingly loud, and was missing about 160 of the 240hp. My 97 Camry 4-cyl accelerated faster, which I loudly mentioned, and had the staff there laughing... And the Red one we drove last week had (what I guess is) a "cold air intake" that replaced the stock airbox with a long aluminum intake that disappeared in front of the right-front tire? The only detriment on that car was an extra-loud HONK when the VTEC kicked in on WFO acceleration. Guessing that car probably had to be remapped to adjust for the extra air?
Really hoping for a bone-stock car. Still hunting!
Glad to find this list. Hoping there's a great DFW contingent!
Thanks,
J
