Default Hi all and a few Q's

Hi guys,

In the next few weeks I will be moving on from my old friend the Honda Accord Type R to buy an S2k. Im 28 so I had better get my 2 seater fix before the girlfriend demands children!

I have been reading up to try and find out what I might need to know and this site has already been helpful but I have a few questions and would it would be great if I could get a bit more opionions from you guys who own these lovely little cars.

What I will be using the car for:

I probably should say that I intend to use this car mainly in the summer, I intend to buy a diesel for commuting and this will be my toy which I can love and take to track days. Therefore eventually I will be looking towards supercharging and mods towards more of a track setup - although not overly hardcore.

Questions(please...)

1. With my useage in mind would I be better looking for a later AP2 model with more miles or an earlier AP1 which may be in better condition and have fewer miles. My budget is around £7.5 - 8K.
2. Is it essential to find a car with a hardtop?
3. Are there problems with earlier gearboxs - non carbon selectors? I am sensitive to this as I had to have a rebuild on my accord last year.
4. How does the handling change with the 17's on the car over the 16's?
5. In the real world is the AP1's lack or torque a real struggle? I am used to low torque in the Accord, although I think it has a bit more than the skip.
6. The earlier cars have a lighter flywheel, does it feel noticeably more responsive as a result? I have a halfweight flywheel on the Accord and it was one of my best mods.
7. Will I get a lot more car for my money if I wait until winter!

I appreciate your help it would be really useful to me in the coming weeks. Thanks

Adz

Edit: I have now found a thread AP1 vs AP2, sorry for repeated Q.
