four owners shouldn't be that big of a deal. An impulse purchase usually puts someone behind the wheel of a car like an S2000 before they realize that it doesn't fit their lifestyle. Or you could have seen what I have. We sold a 2005 silverstone/black S2000 on friday and the lady traded it back in on wednesday. Her reason? I showed her the silverstone with the Red/black that came in that morning. She put 105 miles on the car. Needless to say the second buyer got a steal on that one.

It is very possible the car really does not have 4 owners. If the owner has to get the car retitled in a new state (because they moved) that will come up as a new owner. Did this guy lease the car brand new or did he buy it from the original owner who leased it? I have found many CarFax reports with incorrect number of owners.

First of all, I've met a few "old ladies" and "old men" who drive the crap out of their cars. Don't let that fool you, and let's not make bogus generalizations about driver age, folks -- trust me, a lot of folks resent that.
Second, I think the fact that your carfax disagrees with the current owner is cause for alarm. He/she should've been upfront with you. The car may be fine, but do you want to buy from a liar? I'd run for the hills if I were you. On the other hand, if this car was retitled because of moving state-to-state, that'd be good to know.
Thirdly, I agree anyway that you can probably do better. Best wishes on your hunt! Hope to see you as an owner soon.
Finally, to dano, if you want to sell your car here, I recommend buying a membership and posting this in the for sale forum. I doubt you'll get much interest from a post here in intro... Just a suggestion.
