Hello
Hey everyone. Well im looking to buy an s2k or know alot about them. im from miami and my sort of transportation right now is a cbr600rr6, people tell me to let go off the bike and buy a car. A few thousand miles and a broke wrist later i've come to notice that girls dont like bikes or they are too scared to ride them which is a problem for me. So i've decided that i want an s2k,2 seats, high revving, and what a frame. My friend had a 2000 and traded it for a new gti, when i asked him why did he do that he replied " it was too loud for an everyday and it was problem after problem" i refuse to believe that you cant drive the s2k as an everyday car. im 18 years old(going to 19) and i know this car will cost me alot but how much am i especting here 1000 a month including insurance ? I've also asked my friend what model should i get the 2.0 or the 2.2 and he said the 2.2 will be better as an everyday. I just want opinion from s2k drivers, am i crazy for thinking of getting this car or should i get a 2.0 or 2.2, whats the life on the engines? or should i just keep my bike and forget about an s2k.
Thankx and sorry for the mess.

Welcome aboard. There are a lot of people who use their S2000's as daily drivers. As far as being too loud I'm not sure what that means, too much top down I guess. And just because his was problem after problem doesn't mean that all S2000's are bad.
As far as how much you will be paying depends on what year you get, your driving record, etc. When I got mine (when I was 20 years old) I was paying a little under 700 a month for the car and insurance.
The 2.0 vs. 2.2 argument could go on for years. Drive both and you decide which is best for you. The engines will last for a long time just as long as you take care of them. There are a lot of people here that have 100,000+ miles on their S2000's and still take them to the track on a normal basis.

Tell your friend that VW's are the most unreliable cars on earth. I could believe him, but I would say that most of the people on this board haven't encountered many problems without turbocharging their cars or beating the crap out of them, and that should say something. You live in Miami and you get zero snow...an S2K would be very suitable for a daily. If I can do it in NJ, you can do it in Florida. The life on both engines are very good to my knowledge...I know a few members here who have over 100,000 miles on their motors.
I personally would recommend the 2.0 liter or just the AP1 in general, only because I have had much more fun with them in the past, and for some reason it just feels a lot better to me. However, the AP2 (2.2) transmission is much better, and if you can afford it and you like the style of the 04-07 models better, then buy one of those. I would highly recommend selling the bike and buying an S2K if you like the car for what it is. Good luck

hmmm i guess you are right with the 2.0 vs 2.2 i should try the 2.2. Well 700 with insurance doesnt sound bad at all. i have a good record, no tickets, no accidents but im only 18 so thats 1 problem. Other than that i think i can manage the s2k and my grandparents will be happy ill be getting rid of the bike.... my baby. Well we will see what happend. Thankx again spa01s2k .
