Default Front License plate

I have had my s2k for about 2 months now and love the thing. I live in Mass where we are required to have a front license plate also. The plate kind of kills the looks of the car. Has anyone removed the front plate and left it in the trunk in case the police pull you over? Has anyone had any experience with the cops on this. I want to remove the plate but don't need extra citations. Has anyone been ticketed for removal of front plate? Any input is helpful.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the purchase; how could you not like the car?
Talk with the folks on the UMW forum (from Illinois; which requires a front plate) they talk about this from time to time... responses seem to vary, but everyone agrees, it does spoil the appearance somewhat. You should check into what the penalty is and then make a decision. Follow this link for a recent discussion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you'll have two holes in your front bumper when you remove the plate; right? Doesn't that look bad as well?

You can buy color-matched front license plate plugs (if you didn't get them from the detailer) online for like $5

Also, if it is illegal in your state, you might want to read about another member's unfortunate incident.

I hope you make the right choice =)

In Minnesota, both plates are required. I refuse to display my front plates. I've had the car for 7 months now and haven't had a problem. I must've cruised past dozens of squad cars and they don't even care. I had one cop mention my missing front plates while it was parked, afterwards he just drove off. I guess when i comes to sporty vehicles, they don't bother much...or im just one lucky bastard.

Cops don't really care where I live.

I am also from MA, just leave the plate on. Yes it might hurt the looks, but why give the cops a reason to pull you over?
