Default Forgot to introduce myself

hey s2k guys!

I registered on monday and forgot to introduce myself. I'm a proud rx8 owner who isn't a rotary fanboi and I appreciate lots of other real performance cars out there. I've always admired the s2000, actually contemplated getting one after I cracked an axle in my old prelude a few years back but instead, got an audi. At the time I was still in my early 20's and owning a pretty quick sports coupe in new york city meant higher insurance premiums.

The audi over a five year period started to put lots of doubt in my mind each and every year of owning it. It felt like an expensive and slightly overweight girlfriend with a pretty face. At times I loved it and at times it frustrated me. As I said before, If insurance rates weren't so brutal, I would've been a first year s2k owner instead.

After owning a german car and after she had robbed me blind for five years (unscheduled maintenance costs after warranty), I wasn't even tempted by any other german car out there, not even the m3. Maybe if there was one it was the VW R32, that car is so refined but then I am reminded of the potential out of warranty repairs.

So I'm past my mid 20s and wanted a sports car but being that I'm close to settling down. I needed something that's practical and be able to carry camping gear and my baseball equipment. STi's and EVO's come to mind which are great cars but I felt that i outgrew that phase of my life. I wanted lots of fun with practicality and I LOVE rotary engines.

Also, the rx8 forums have been slow these days. Since it's all the same topic/off-topic stuff. At the moment the only thing we're all looking forward to is a mazdaspeed cold air intake and that axial flow supercharger that's been in development for ages. I think there's one coming out for you guys as well. The 8 has a very small aftermarket because the renesis engine is still fairly new and the ECU is stubborn and so far it looks impossible to crack. There's not much one can do to an NA Renesis outside of Forced Induction so far...

... wish I could write more, I just got a few tasks on my desk. nice to meet you all.

It's actually ok, I have photoshop and quark open with some BS project files ready to be "worked" on just in case anyone comes by. They actually allow instant messenging here and this is a very casual work environment.
