Finally Buying an S2000!
Picking up my 'new' Spa Yellow 2002 after work today!!! WooHoo!
It's got 70k miles with full service records, and is in great mechanical shape.
I have a question about the deal though. Cosmetically it's like new, with the exception of a small tear developing in the top from rubbing against the frame.
The dealer has agreed to put in writing that they'll repair it within the week, and warranty the repair for a year. Is this a good idea? Should the repair last for at least a couple years? I don't want to be buying a new top in a year and a month.
I planned to get an S2000 last summer, and actually posted on here about it (*embarrassed*). I ended up having to put my money from the summer into a full rebuild of my jetski's engine after it decided to basically eat a significant portion of itself.
It's been a long wait to get back to my summer internship so I could have the money for the car, but it's finally here!

If there is one thing that Honda never got right with the S it's the top. Take it out and replace it with a hardtop! (that's what I did) Not everyone would go that route though so..
The top isn't very easy to repair and you might have to end up getting a new one eventually. If they are going to repair it for free and warranty it for a year, use that time to save money for a replacement (or HT)
P.S. I have the same MY and exact same mileage btw. Enjoy the S.

Welcome and congrats!!
There's not really a good way to repair the top. Most of the repairs are kinda ugly. And some are barely serviceable. I'd be more interested in a credit towards a replacement top.
