I owned an 06 GT 350Z and the car was heavy as hell. I had the Nismo suspension put on and the Nismo LMGT4's so that helped some.
The more I drove the car the more it just felt boring to me.
The S2K handles a whole lot better than the Z though and after paying for the GT model and the Nismo parts you could have a S with a hardtop and full exhaust.
I no longer own the Z for the above reasons.

Ohh ... I was always under the impression that the 287 model is around 13.7, and the 300hp runs another 0.1 - 0.2 second quicker hehe (magazine times of course ... most drivers probably won't be able to get there)
To be honest, to me this isn't a big issue anyway. I didn't buy my S2K to race, I bought it for other reasons. I am never going to the track with this car, so it's irrelevant what it runs in a quarter mile...I just wanted him to know that. I am sure a 350Z would pull on me going 120 on a highway, but that's okay...I already beat two Evo's on the highway with my S2K

I drove both before buying my S last spring ... couple of specifics I didn't like other than the handling differences ...
-with the wider car, the rise over the front wheel wells seemed to obstruct my vision close to both front corners
-bigger car, but very marginal additional space inside the cockpit
-bigger car, less functional trunk space than the S
I've liked this body style since it came out, and still like looking at them on the road, just didn't hit me with the "feel" when I drove it ... wouldn't trade my S for anything after the past 6 months

You're always going to get biased opinions from different forums. Just like people here are claiming why S2k is better, and how they sold their Z and never looked back, the exact same responses would be had in the Z forum.
Just test drive them both and get whatever feels better to you.

My standard response to the 100 or so threads like this we get each year is.... if you have to ask, buy the other car.
A funny thing happened when I did a search. I got the results you seek.
Put "350z vs. S2000" in the little 'search' window and see what comes up.
