Default Buying a s2k- NEED HELP

Hey guys,

I use to be a member on this forum about 4-5 years ago when I was 15-16 years old. Although I dont remember my user name or anything to try and retreive that account. I wanted a s2k as my first car and my parents where going to get me one. Well long story short my parents ended up spliting before my 16th birthday and I ended up buying a 2000 v6 mustang. I had full bolt ons, gears, and nitrous. About a year ago I wreaked it in the ran due to having no tread on my tires and a old lady stopped at a yellow light. I got to strip the stang and insurance wrote me a 6k check for the stang. I sold all the parts I put on it and with some money from my parents I got a 2002 bmw 325i with 80k miles on it. (12k) well its been a year and I'm wanting to traded it for the original car I wanted (ap1 s2k). Trade in on my car now is crappy though and I got offered $8000 the other day. (ofcourse I said no, I think I should get 9500 atleast) Whats a good price to pay for a 2000-2001 s2000? should I be able to trade even or am I going to have to alittle and if so how much?

Also in august I'm getting like $5,000 for left over college money so I plan to put all that money into the car. My cuz is a honda micanic and said that all s2k's burn oil and I need to stay away from high miliage ones because alot of people drive them hard and they start having problems. Any input would be helpful.

Not all s2ks burn oil...as the model years went on that issue pretty much went away. MY03s burn very little oil compared to the MY00 even new. AP2 owners don't complain about any unusual oil consumption.

There are very few s2ks that weren't driven hard...it's just the kind of owner they attracted. I mean....YOU'RE not going to take it easy, are you?

You can find some very decent very low mileage AP1s in the $12-13k range.

In the $9.5-10k range you are looking at a higher mileage AP1.

Hang on to the $5k for mods and repairs. While it is a Honda, the early AP1s are 8-10yrs old...Honda or not, some stuff is going to start to go.

Good luck in your search...

I got a perfect condition 2002 Suzuka Blue 67k for $9k, and a 2001 from a fellow member that was turbocharged but beat up body for $9k (77k).

Just look the deals are there.

Should have ran with that....according to edmunds, the Private party value is $7300 for a '02 with 110k miles. Good luck though.
