Default Any words of advice before purchasing a 2006 S2K?

Hi there...I pretty much think my car might be sold from Ebay tonite or tomorrow....anyway I am about to purchase a RIO yellow 06 model for invoice $31,200, should I try to find a 2005 model instead??? There really is no savings on a 05 model vs. an 06 according to the dealer, and has anyone discovered any problems on the 06's vs. the 05's??? Oh and btw I do prefer the 05 rims to the 06's instead

I owned an 04' so I can't speak on the 05'(which I'm sure was improved over the 04') but it seems Honda has improved the 06'(which I own) quite a bit over the 04.I love the DBW responsiveness ,better seats and VSA is a must after owning a Vette.Plus the 06' ecm is flash programable from Hondata.Just my 2 cents after owning 3 s2k's and a C6.

And you actually believed him? Does he actually have one on the lot? I doubt it. He doesn't want you going away to another dealer and finding an '05 and losing the sale. An '05 is OLD stock, even if it's brand new. Don't believe anything a dealer salesman tells you. Go to another dealership and talk. On the other hand, if it's the only game in town and he DOES have an '05 sitting on the lot, take the '06 at the same price or try another town.
Take a close look at his "salesman licence". I'm sure you'll find in bold print someplace where it says, "THOU SHALT LIE THROUGH YOUR TEETH WHILE SMILING ALL THE TIME."

(Of course there are honest ones and my apologies to those, but I doubt you've been talking to one.)

the 2006 has many advantages, specifically the programmable ECU.

the 00-04 cars' program isn't modifiable. It's the only modern Honda like that. It's like Honda did it on purpose saying "don't mess with my masterpiece"...but that doesn't explain the change of heart with the 2006.

the 2006 seats are also of higher quality leather.

Rule number one: never believe anything a dealer tells you until you have independently verified it.

Rule number two: The dealer wants to sell you the car at the highest possible price you are willing to pay.

Have you looked up the holdback on the 06? The dealer's actual cost is invoice minus holdback minus any other incentatives Honda might be giving him.

Search this site a little more, I think people are doing a lot better than 31,200...

The dealer I bought my 06 from is advertising the remaining new 05 that they have (Rio Yellow) for $28.6k right now.

Lots of folks, including myself, did better than $31,2 as well.

Yellow? I'd go for a lower price and different color.

From what I have read the changes from 05 to 06 are small. Thus the only real benefit of going with the 06 would be a little higher resale value down the road. Personally I'm not crazy about the 06 seats or the new wheels.

At this time, if you buy an '05, you better get one HELLUVA deal because the instant you sign on the dotted line and drive off the lot, it will have depreciated one year's worth. Just ask the salesman to check with the used car manager to tell you what the black book price is on the '05 if you brought it back the next day.

After you buy the 06, pull the ecu and send it in to hondata
