Hey guys...I just bought my S2000 yesterday and have already put over 200 miles on it. I came from driving all front drive vehicles and to tell you the truth, I have gotten very scared while driving the S2000 2 or 3 times. What I have noticed is that the car will sweep out off throttle. I havn't experienced "fish tailing" while giving power, it's when I let up off the throttle around the turn that the back end will sway (something I am NOT used to). I know that my driving technique is probably 100% incorrect, and I am looking at some kind of driving school at Mid-Ohio, but for now I am wondering what to do. From the above posts it says not to shift during a turn, this is when I experience my tail coming loose. I feel like while on the throttle the car will go where I point it but once off throttle it gives me an experience I am not used to. It's not a slide (the tires never brake loose), but the line I was taking changes.

Any tips that aren't in the above posts would be appreciated.

It definitely took me some getting used to, since I came only from FWD cars. Don't worry, just be careful while learning... and now you also know the "feeling" of when the back end is about to come out. Have fun learning, and enjoy it.

Hi guys, another newbie here from the UK and i have learned this lesson the hard, hard way, i have written off my first S2000 (24k miles on the clock) on the 2nd week of ownership when coming off a roundabout in the rain! :-(

I don't think i am going to post pics of the accident in order to avoid negative feelings, but you get the picture.

I have now bought a second one and being really careful and driving it very very smoothly indeed.

Note: I have bought a banger to drive in the rain since i cannot bear the thought of driving my S2000 in the rain anymore!

Very sorry to hear it, vixnu. An extremely difficult lesson to learn the hard way. But, you seem to have a good perspective about it, and congratulations on getting a second one!

Sign up for a performance driving class somewhere and get your S to the track (or auto-x parking lot) and get your experience. The AP1 models (pre-2004) do not have any yaw control or driver aids, so you really need to learn the right reactions.

Thank you for the encouraging words Chazmo, much appreciated. I have thought on taking up the lessons indeed, beginning of next year looks most likely. In the meantime i will continue to drive in the dry only, and as smoothly as i possibly can! :-)
