Default 2007 pricing....help!

OK guys I need some advice. I have been looking around for a while now trying to find the right S2K for me. I have decided that I would like a white on black which narrows down my selections a lot. I have found here on the board that the dealers are trying to move out the last 2007's and are willing to deal on them. I looked around locally and one dealer has the exact car I want and has already come off the MSRP price already. I searched here to get an idea on pricing, but I did not come up with anything solid. Over the phone they said it is marked at $28,595, but they are willing to deal when I come in especially since it is the last day of the month. I unfortunately was not planning to buy this soon, but I can swing it financially. One thing I am still trying to find is what would be a killer price be that would make me have to take it home tonight? I have bought a number of cars already in my lifetime and I am a hard bargainer that is willing to put up a fight for the right price. Thing is I need to guys to tell me the price I am shooting for.

Thank you in advance for the help!!

John

for an FYI, I saw a 2008 black on black/red with 157 miles listed in Chicago for $28,995 yesterday.

Honda seriously needs to either kill the S2k, significantly upgrade it, or significantly decrease the production numbers.

I seriously doubt you can get a new 07 for less than $27.5 though. Good luck!

Tell that to the guy who just bought a leftover 2007(with 39 miles on the clock) for 27K OUT THE DOOR. I would offer the same thing. No reason to pay more. If you can find the ad for the Chicago car mentioned I would do that as well. 400 is not enough of a discount for a car that is 1 yr older and doesn't have the newest features.

You think if they go for $26,5 that I should go home with it tonight? I am in the process of securing financing right now. Would that be considered an awesome deal that I should not pass up?

Well, we picked up an 07 silverstone for 30.4 otd in October. Car price itself was 27.7. White's a rarer color, so you may not be able to go as low as negotiating on a NFR (most negotiatable 07 around here; I think the 27 otd guy got a NFR too). You definitely should be able to get the car price below 27 in my opinion. And be wary of mileage higher than say 15. Anything higher than that allows for more negotiation room if you're set on this particular car.

Good point. This has to be the most discounted Honda in history.

Ok I called the dealer to check the current mileage. It has 103 miles on it which would concern me. Also he now informed me that is the black/red interior which I am not 100% sold on. Should I blow this car off since it has 103 miles already?

Thanks,

John

Yes. There's no doubt the S2K appeal has worn off, and they are forced to unload the overproduction. The car is great, but simply outdated, and has overstayed. You can get a Sky Redline, which if you're main goal is a torquey fast feeling highway power rolling car wihich IMO is a stunning looking vehicle with more flash, the S2K at a higher price doesn't have the appeal. Along side of one of of a Yellow Sky in my S2K, I didn't feel like I had just as new of a car. The deisgn is so modern and new, much like the S2K used to be.

I personally am upset the car still exists in 2008. In 2001, I can remember being so exclusive, and having a car people rarely saw. It was a great feeling, which sadly is now gone.

In heinsight, I paid $31k for my S2K in April of 06, which at the time was a pretty good deal. Now, even with an 08, that's overpriced. I just don't think Honda really anticipated the arrival and success of the Solstice/Sky very well, which is available in various affordable trims, even auto tranny, then add in the Miata, with a retractable hardtop option that people love, this car can't succeed without a major re-design.

Well, it is what it is. For those looking to take advantage of this overproduction and demand collapse, congrats, and enjoy this fine machine.

That wouldn't be a major concern for me personally, especially at the price they are selling for. As long as you can accept the interior, and you can get the price to $27k, I personally think you should jump all over it. Good luck!!!
