every once and a while i come across ads that have a nice looking s for around 13500 to 14000. is this just the value of the s or should i watch out for some flaw in the car? the reason why i ask this is because i on autotrader all the cars i find that are in the this price range are 250+ away from me and i cant afford to do some fun drive just to check out the car.....help~!

 

if there is nothing wrong with the car, then its a good deal..
but make sure to carfax it to check for clean title (no salvage title), and have a mechanical check the car.

get the seller to drive the to a tune shop, mechanical inspection + a couple dyno runs, you pay for this, share the info with the owner. every one happy.

 

Try to ask questions first about the history of the car (how often he changed this, swapped that, etc.). This way, if the seller sounds fishy, you don't have to spend the $$ for the pre-purchase inspection. If it sounds good, then get a neutral independent shop to do a pre-purchase inspection or ask someone on the board to check it out for you first before doing so. Good luck.

I am leary of any car that is cheap and has had a lot of owners.
