12 Y/O Vehicle Low miles Maintenance
Hello guys my name is Jed, I live on the seacoast of NH and I am a huge car enthusiest. I just came over from the Audi scene and sold my bagged B6 Audi A4, looking for something completely differnet and hopefully more reliable. Right now I have my eyes on a AP1 2000 S2000 in the area with 48k miles, dark grey with red interior. The seller is asking $14,750 for the vehicle which seems fair, but my only concern is the recent maintenance or lack of for that matter. The car being 12 years old has not had a single timing belt replacement just simple oil changes. I know honda doesn't require this until 90-100k, but rubber belts are to replaced atleast every 7 years no matter the mileage.
My question is, seeing as though the car is 12 years old, what are some other services this car may need? Also what is the normal Timing belt replacement run at a Honda dealer?

There's no timing belt to change. That price seems a little high to me.

S2000s have timing chains, not belts. I would recommend fluid changes for the transmission and differential, maybe coolant and brake fluid too and a valve adjustment. Also, inspect the valve spring retainers for cracks. Is the seller a dealer or private party? If it's a private individual, ask him/her what type of motor oil has been used and if it's Mobil1 or if the seller is a dealer and the dealer is uncertain, change that out ASAP to something else other than Mobil1.

Yeah I dont think the seller would be comfortable with me taking the car apart... With everything in line, what do you guys think would be a fair price to offer the seller? Also there is no real maintenance schedule for 50k miles, other than the fluids suggested above?

I tested the car yesterday everything was in good condition... The bumpers on the car had a few blemishes in which I wasnt fond of but the interior and everything else was immaculate. I did notice when decelerating the car seemed to get louder and was kind of humming, is this normal? Also I offered the seller $14,000 but he didnt bite... we'll see in a week.
