Default changed my transmission fluid.....

sup guys!!! so last week i finally decided to change my own transmission fluid for the first time as apposed to paying someone to do it. I felt a sense of accomplishment that was untill the very next day when i noticed a small oil leak(pretty sure it was transmission fluid) Long story short I put a little over 2 quarts of honda mtf into my transmission instead of the recommended 1.6 quarts I spoke to another s2000 owner who said he had the same issue and said that the excess transmission fluid went into the "clutch area" and now i just have to wait it out...anyone else ever delt or heard of this happening? Any help would be appreciated guys, thanks

btw, i have included a link to a picture which show where my leak is comming from

Never heard that, but makes sense (sort of). Try posting this in the General interest or Special interest.

how did you fill it to 2q...was your car extremely tilted? On level ground when its full it will leak out the fill hole.

A simple solution is to jack up your car - slide an oil pan under it - remove the fill bolt - lower the car on level ground - let the excess drain out - slide pan out - jack up car - insert fill bolt.

done.

thanks for the tip duke....but yeah i tried that as soon as i noticed the leak. the excess fluid in the transmission came out,it however didnt work for the fluid in the clutch area( if that is indeed the issue, and there is some trapped there), ive been noticing the leak gradually become less and less, aswell the tranmission fluid level seems at the same level so thats good news!!!

the clutch is dry on the s2000 if you have fluid leaking into that area the corrosive and slippery nature of mtf would both case the clutch to slip which would smoke and possibly catch fire and eat away the clutch material - you would know this immediately, so trust me there is nothing to worry about. When you over fill the clutch a half quart it only causes a slight bit more parasitic drag on the gears to have to displace the extra oil as they move. I usually add another .2/.4 Q for track days ect myself.

makes perfect sense..actually (forgot to mention) the first time i drove it after the oil change i noticed smoke coming from underneath the hood which is why the very next morning i jacked it up. Everything was fine except for the leak i came across. Fortunately it hasnt smoked since, but ill definately have to keep an eye on it within the next couple of weeks or so.
