People need to be responsible with their decisions, and although it's seems like a big deal now, this issue was ongoing long before it became hot news on the net.
You just have to be honest with yourself and the dealership when you involve yourself in events like autocross, drag racing, and track events. That article is old and I don't blame Mitsubishi for taking this action into effect since they're being slammed in Japan for producing the worst-quality cars for having the highest recorded number of accidents and deaths due to clutch failures amongst their entire fleet. There's a reason why I didn't go with the Evo...
I surely don't expect the dealer to cover anything that gets worked hard during autocross, like my suspension, brakes, tires, exhaust, engine and such. My dealership knows that I autocross and they actually helped me with some of my equipment, and upgraded a few odds and ends to strengthen the car a little more to withstand the additional stress.
My car gets a complete oil change to RP 10w-30 every 5000 miles, MTF/DIFF/brakes/clutch all gets exchanged every 6 months and I've been told that my diff fluid is so clean it looks like the new stuff going in. The clutch is the only thing I know that may show signs of autocross-like activity since I do slip the clutch a lot at the start to prevent shocking the diff.
Subaru isn't that much different, regardless of the fact that they give you a free year's membership to autocross for purchasing a WRX/STI, they frown on people coming into service knowing that the car was involved in such activities.

Tell me about it... oh well. In the computer industry, a lot of companies promote overclocking but the manufacturers rarely cover repairs if they can trace it to overclocking activities.
It's like having the American Lung Association bringing in revenue by selling cigarettes to the public.

I think it's a pretty "slipery slope" if you're going to read the internet to look for racers from the results. I'd sure hate to have my warranty denied because I race an S2000 and am an owner!?
