No way dude. A nice red wine with hot and spicy poke is perfection. Try it. Better than beer. The wine helps to neutralize spicy foods....

Aight!! It's getting warm and I'd like to switch to whites. Any good recommendations on Reislings, Sauvignon Blancs, Pinot Grigio's, Chardonnay's?

Cloudy Bay?

As for other good whites, my favorite is Cakebread Chardonnay. It's light, refreshing, crisp, not too oaky, and nicely balanced. If you want to spend some $$$, Rudd is excellent. . Very complexed with the characteristics constantly changing as you taste it on your palette. Probably one of the best on the market right now is Kistler which is excellent. Once again nicely complexed, and very balanced.

Duckhorn, Cloudy Bay, Frogs Leap makes really good Sauvignon Blancs. Ferrari Cerrano makes good whites for the price and enjoy their Fume Blanc. Groth is also another excellent white. For Pinot Gris/Grigio, ZD makes some good ones and as well as Chehalem. I'm not big fan of Reislings.

Wow, thanks Spanky. I'll have your recommendations written down when I go booze shopping!
