I'm moving to Hawaii in two weeks and wish to purchase a new convertible. I want a real sportscar / roadster for < 40K. I don't want to waste time when I arrive, so where should I go to 1. Find an S2000 2. Get a reasonable price 3. What is the reasonable price for HI S2000?

Hi. There are 3 Honda dealerships here. You might want to try them first. I don't know what you consider 'reasonable', but I've heard that dealers are letting current S2000's go for well below sticker (about 30k) due to the bump in displacement that is due for the upcoming '04 model. There are a couple of second-hand dealerships around too, but they rarely have an s2000 on the lot. There's usually 1 or 2 in the newspaper, though the only one listed right now is an blk'02 at Pflueger Acura going for 29k (I'm sure you can go below that).

I work at our Acura store, but I can sell Hondas too. We do have that second hand '02 with 12K on the clock here at our store. Not too sure on the S2000 inventory over at honda, but I could check for you as needed. Your arrival time will probably place you around the crossover between '03 and '04. There are a lot of changes for '04 that are well documented over in 'S2000 Talk'. Suffice to say it will be a different car with the changes planned.
