Default What did you pay for your S2k in Hawaii?

Hey everyone,

I'm still shopping around for an S2k, and I was wondering what everyone payed for their cars locally. What's the real true market value here in Honolulu?

If the price is close to Edmunds TMV then I should be able to get one, however if the dealers are allowed to have their way, then I'll have to settle for a used model.

Colin? What kind of a deal can you cut me?

I was looking for one for a long time. The lowest I ( that means me, just a dumb white guy ) could find a new s2k was $31,000 out the door....and it was the blue that I don't like.

I went with the used s2k because there was more room to play with the price.

I really don't know how much used s2k's go for on island. The used s2k's I looked at for a while were usually '99-'01's that usually had been mod'ed.

I bought mine when dealers were still getting ABOVE msrp for s2000's. In 2001, I paid $33,500. I don't remember how much all of the doc/license fees and tax were. At that time, Californians were still paying $5-10k above sticker.

Back in 2001, I paid $1000 over MSRP but only if they agreed to give me Kelly Blue Book on my '98 Accord EXV6 as a trade in (actually $300 more than KBB). It took a long time going back and forth, but I held my ground and got it. This included a hardtop too (in addtion to the $1k over MSRP). I actually met someone who bought an '01 s2k and paid more for it than I did with my hard top (he wasn't too happy when I told him what I paid).

yep they had like 6 on the lot @ tony once. But they only would do 31,000 on the blue...not the other colors they had.

I paid 25K for a 2001 w/18,000 miles on it in 2004 from Tony Honda. I had a trade in and they gave me more then I paid for my accord that I bought from them 2 months prior. Since they gave me a good deal on the trade in I got screwed on the buy. O well I'm happy with what I got and I think that's all that matters.

yup, that's all that matters hehe.

when i went to look, there was only 1 white one at tony honda which the sales guy was redlining. and there was only a red one at pflueger and a blue one with no seats.. they said there was an incident with that one so they had to put the seats back in. but yea, the list price for all of them was 38k, but i guess that's what they put anyway eh?

now i need to get a hardtop hehe

i paid 24k out the door for my 02 with a hair over 20000 miles on it (this was in early 04). but then i also bought the extended warranty for another $1000, which is not bad considering it'll cover the car until 2009 or 100k miles...

i was willing to pay for a new 04 in yellow, but tony wouldnt deal on the yellow one they had on the lot at the time, and it had ~250 miles on it...and i also redlined that sucker on my test drive ( i needed to see what it could do, and i asked the salesman if he'd had a problem with me for doing it)...i was willing to wait and buy a new yellow one, but they werent getting any in; and i wasnt gonna pay msrp for a car i drove hard before break in...
