Default Vacationing in Hawaii

Hello, My name is Ray Scott (S2KRAY). My wife and I live in Wilmington, Delaware and are planning to vacation in Maui and Kauai (hope I spelled it right) to celebrate my 60th birthday and my lovely wife's (Pat) recent retirement. We are planning to be there on 2/23 through 3/3 and will split the time between the 2 islands starting with Maui. I currently own a 2000 S2000 and was one of the early members of the forum. Currently a member of the Delaware Valley Club. We have never been to Hawaii, except for a few stints there when I was in the Navy and are very excited about visiting your beautiful Islands. Freezing here so we cant wait. I was wondering if anyone knows of a bicycle shop on either island I could contact as I bike a lot and would love to take some rides while we are there. We are still working on our accommodations so I will E-mail the hotel as well before we depart to see if they know of any bike rental places. Looking forward to this trip and hope to see some S2K's driving around. I will be the guy with no tan if you see me waving. BTW, what is the time difference between Calif. and Hawaii. Thanks. Ray

Hi Ray,

The bulk of the posters here on S2ki.com are from Oahu. There is one (that I'm aware of) on the Big Island (spanky). I don't know anyone specifically on Maui or Kauai. Sorry. Now if you were planning a day or two here in Honolulu, we'd love to meet up!

I was in Maui since Sat. and just got back to O.C. last night. I was surprised (and happy) to have seen two S2000's throughout my short visit.

I saw a Spa on the 30 heading from Kaanapali to Lahaina late Sunday night.

The second was a Berlina that I saw around 2p.m. on Tue. (again on the 30), but this time heading from Lahaina to the airport.

I threw the "V" but I'm sure nobody saw me in my red rental jeep. I didn't want to degrade myself by getting a Mustang, so I went with the Wrangler (at least I could take the top off).

What a beautiful weekend!

Hey Ray -

Don't mean to totally hijack your thread - but the wife and I will be in Oahu on 2/22-2/27 also.

I hang out so much with the local PacNW crew that the wife might want to take a break from S2000s though.

Maybe if there is a meet or gtg we'll get a chance to say hello.

I know for sure that while we are there we'll be:

1. Hiking Diamond Head most mornings

2. Eating at Kim Chee II

3. Eating some more @ Ono

4. Even more food at that place right down the street from Kim Chee II in Makiki that has hehe... "Kim Chee Fried Rice"

5. Getting a bunch of take out from the Gulick Street Deli

6. Trying more food @ the "I Love Country" kitchen.

oh yeah - we like to eat.

I haven't been to Kauai for years... what would you locals recommend we do?

Mahalo...

lig

p.s. anyone got the hookup on a cheap inter-island flight and car rentals?

Those sound like some excellent choices. I'll be printing this out before we go! Thanks!

I think there's a reason I look better with clothes on.
