I am wondering whether anyone is (or knows of) a vacation rental manager on Oahu. We have a 2 bedroom condo in Waikiki (Ala Wai and Liliuokalani) that we are currently renting out for between 1 week and 1 month. Our current realtor is retiring and providing no help in finding a replacement.
The condo is legally able to be rented as a vacation rental and we do not want to enter into a long term rental as we like to use it every year to visit family.
Our first choice is to find someone who can manage it for us, but our second option is to do a lot of the leg work from NY and have someone local just meet & greet tenants and deal with repairs.
Any recommednations would be appreciated!
Thanks!!

While you never know how it will turn out, I was hoping to find someone with a client base (a rented condo is a good condo).
I would imagine it would require online advertising, meeting tenants and getting them "checked-in", taking care of unit, etc...

vacation rentals take tremendous amounts of work. it seems like every week there is a mountain of tasks to get done. good luck
i'll post back here if i can get in touch with an old acquaintance who used to do this sort of thing.

Does your building have a rental pool? A lot of Waikiki condos do and the management company is usually able to handle that for you. Be careful about agents, you only need a real estate license to handle rentals and quality varies greatly. The best way to find a good agent is to approach it like renter. Check online, contact the agents who seem to do a lot of business and see how they perform.

I have been doing exactly that - looking as if I were in the market to rent one myself. Looking at the way many units are marketed, I may just handle the advertising/rentals from this end and have someone do the misc. things that require someone to be local (I can't convince my wife to move back at this point).

I am meeting with the guy who is going to manage it when I stop in Hawaii for a few days at the beginning of March. Let's touch base after that and I can give you the info. I am sure it will depend on how long you will stay (long stay = lower daily rent)...
